Visitors to the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate will be housed in the utmost luxury, either in the Manor House or the private garden suites.
The Manor House was established in 1847 when Henry Fancourt set up a base for workers constructing the Montagu Pass, and is now a national monument. Located near the heart of the Fancourt estate, the Manor House is home to 34 charming bedrooms, which blend the traditional charm of the house with the modern facilities required of a good hotel. Set amid delightful wooded parkland, the Manor House is the intimate choice for your stay at Fancourt.
The resort's Garden Suites and Studios offer outstanding accommodation, courtesy of 1, 2 or 3 bedroom units, all set in a peaceful garden environment. Old World charm is complemented by excellent contemporary amenities in the private suites, every one of which is perfectly tailored to guarantee an amazing golf holiday at South Africa's greatest modern resort.
The Fancourt Spa combines professional service with the ultimate in relaxation therapy, where the best health and beauty treatments are available, all under the gaze of the Outeniqua Mountains. A heated Roman bath, sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, tepidarium and a jacuzzi. In terms of activity, Fancourt has a superb gym, four tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and volleyball courts, while the magnificent estate is best viewed from the running, cycling and hiking trails. Keen ornithologists will be aware of the Garden Route's amazing birdlife - Fancourt itself has over 200 species, which are documented in a resort guide book.
Fancourt has six separate restaurants, offering a fine range of cuisine from all over the world. The steaks in the Grill Room and the African flavours in Sansibar are among the highlights while Henry White’s combines local flavours with modern cuisines to produce a true masterclass while in an elegant, flamboyant setting.
Owner Dr. Hasso Plattner commissioned the legendary Gary Player to add the Links to Fancourt's existing layouts, and upon completion, the layout became an instant classic. Player's love of seaside golf spurred him to study his favourite coastal layouts of the UK and Ireland, and their influence is plainly visible.
The demanding Links can be extended to a mighty 7,625 yards from the tees used for the 2003 Presidents Cup and the 2005 South African Open, but rest assured there are tees to suit the mere mortal. The Links is now one of the world's most celebrated courses, certainly one of the best in South Africa, and is a ‘must play' for serious golfers.
Fancourt's Montagu Course has in the past been ranked as South Africa's best, but with the inception of the Links in 2000, it appeared slightly dated. That is why the management implemented a thorough overhaul that involved major renovations, including the addition of two new holes. The resultant parkland layout - 7,385 yards - is once again celebrated in South Africa and beyond, and its spectacular holes will be remembered for a long time to come by fortunate Fancourt visitors.
The Outeniqua takes its name from the dramatic mountain range that guards over the Fancourt estate, and was also conceived by Gary Player. Its character is similar to the neighbouring Montagu layout, with immaculate fairways and greens carved through the rugged dunes and expanses of water that characterise the landscape.
In addition to its comprehensive academy, these amazing courses are truly awe-inspiring, which is why golf holidays at Fancourt are so sought after.
